One thing I’m trying to do is entertain more at home. I’m no Martha Stewart by any stretch of the imagination, but I think it’s a lot of fun to whip up a gourmet meal and crack open a couple bottles of good wine with a small group of close friends. The setting is a lot more intimate and comfortable than going out, and eating at home is certainly much cheaper than paying for the same meal in a swanky restaurant. Before I start sending out invitations, though, I have to look at new oak dining tables to replace old scarred and worn one I’m using now.
My current table has been in my family for years, but it’s not an heirloom or anything like that. It just keeps getting passed around to whoever doesn’t want to pay for new furniture. It seems that nobody has taken particularly good care of it over the decades, thus the extensive wear and tear. I could probably cover the damage up with a tablecloth if I really wanted to, but I think this is the perfect excuse for getting one of those contemporary oak dining tables that are so popular right now so I’m not going to waste my chance!

I’ve been able to look at a wide selection of both modern and traditional styles that would look perfect in my house and fit right in with the rest of the decor. These are quality hardwood pieces, not the cheap stuff with a thin laminate layer over inferior material. But they’re all just a bit out of my price range, so I’m thinking of looking for oak dining tables online instead.
Online furniture stores are doing big business these days because many of them offer terrific deals on their merchandise. A couple of friends have made similar purchases on the Internet and didn’t have to pay sales taxes or shipping fees. When combined with the sales price of the product, they ended up saving close to 50 percent on what they would have had to pay at a local store. Plus, they were able to buy with no money down and no interest for 12 months. What an amazing deal! If I can find these kinds of discounts on brand-name oak dining tables, I’ll be elated!
Anyway, my search for stylish oak dining tables will continue for the next few weeks as I compare designs, sizes, and prices at different online stores. Once I finish with this task, then I can begin planning the dinner parties that I’m itching to host for my friends. Who knows, maybe I’ll even catch up with Martha someday!
